About Us

Our Vision

Introducing people to Christ, Growing people in Christ, to Send people to share Christ!
As the Southwest Christian congregation endeavors to fulfill this vision, we as individuals are challenged to discover and grow in three areas of relationship. Our relationship with Jesus, our relationship with the community of believers, and our relationships with others who are seeking to know the truth about their own existance and purpose for being. In short to follow the way of God's love.

Our Beliefs

Our deepest convictions guide the decision we make as a community of believers. We believe the Bible is the inspired, written Word of God without apology, and therefore is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. While the Bible itself is our formal document of faith, the following statements reflect our beliefs regarding it's teachings. They should help you understand those biblical truths that define who we are:

  • We believe in one God who is manifested as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe this one God is the Creator of all that exists.
  • We believe the man Jesus is the Christ, God's only begotten Son and He is Lord and Savior of all mankind.
  • We believe the Holy Spirit is given to all who receive Christ, to be our encourager, guide, comfort, and over time, transforms our behavior to be more Christ like in our actions and responses to others.
  • We believe that mankind, created by God with free will, and following the pattern of all who have gone before us, willfully rebeled against our Creator, and through that rebellion, seperated ourselves from Him and are therefore without hope apart from re-establishing that relationship through Jesus Christ, who is the only Way to God.
  • We believe that the restoration of mankind to a right relationship with our Creator comes by God's loving grace through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. New Life eternal is freely offered to all who put their faith in and receive Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord.
  • We believe the Bible clearly teaches that those who believe, are to humble themselves and publically identify themselves with Christ through the re-enactment of His death, burial and resurrection in baptism, (immersion in water), and to rise in their new life of love through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Word, and by grace are to follow the way of Christ in our daily lives.

Our Values

We believe in the value of God's Word being taught and learned.
Because of this belief we endeavor to continually proclaim the truth of God's Word with relevant, creative, and life-changing teaching and messages. (Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:15-17)

We believe in the value of transformed lives.
As a result of this value we believe that every person on the face of the earth needs the grace of God through Jesus Christ and when humbly received, His Spirit renews our minds and trasforms our behaviors to be more Christ-like in our relationships with others. (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 3:3; 2 Timothy 4:2)

We believe in the value of community.
As a result we endeavor to connect to others in order to promote unity, fellowship, and belonging all across the life and ministries of the Southwest Christian Church community. (John 17; Ephesians 4:1-16; Acts 2:42-46)

We believe in the value of personal and community integrity.
Because of this we encourage and expect a serious commitment to living lives of faithful purity, honesty, and respect for others as the norm for this community of believers. This extends beyond just when we are together corporately but also into all of our relationships, (family, friends, neighbors and business). (1 Corinthians 16:13; Philippians 1:27; Colossians 3:13; Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 6:13-18)

We believe in the value and power of prayer.
Because of this we seek to be in continous communication with God on behalf of others and ourselves. (Matthew 6:5-13; 21:13; Romans 12:12; James 5:16).
