Missions Ministry

Ministry Leader: June Landrum

Christ told us to go into all the world and tell others about His Good News and to make disciples. We love our missionaries and we know their calling is to introduce people to Christ who haven’t had the opportunity as we have to know Him, and to grow in Christ so they can tell others about Him. We aren’t all called to be foreign missionaries – but we all are called to grow and sow where we’re planted and to assist those who are called and are willing to go.
When you contribute funds to Southwest Christian, you are also contributing to our missions projects: at least 15% of our general fund goes to support our missionaries and their work. The Missions Ministry Team stays in touch with all our missionaries. We plan local support events. We make annual mission budget recommendations to the elders, as well as other recommendations pertaining to our missionarie projects. We continually seek to know our missionaries personally and we consider our congregation to be their partners in accomplishing this vital work for the Kingdom. In addition to the Texas based Mission Ministries we suuport, we also support foreign missions, in Africa, in Asia, in Europe and in Mexico.

Opportunities to Serve:

  • Birthday and anniversary cards to each of our missionaries. - Volunteer to have the cards signed by as many SWCC folks as practical. Cards and postage to be sent to missionaries’ forwarding agents 5-6 weeks BEFORE the event (slightly different time requirement for U.S. and Mexico missionaries).

  • Fund raising for missions. Volunteer to organize and work a project to raise money for:
- Pack the Pantry for Colegio Biblico (food for students who struggle financially)
- For our two High School girls who, on graduation, are going on a short term mission
trip to South Africa in September.
- To obtain items for the above mentioned two girls to take with them to 'The Fold"
children’s home in South Africa.
- To obtain items such as balloons and sugarless gum for June and Phil Landrum to
take with tem fot the children of the Lesideng village where Marilyn Cook ministers.
(of course cash is always-welcomed).
- To assist one of our girls, who has been accepted at Dallas Christian College and
could really use some help.
- Special Projects our missionaries are working on, such as: Marilyn Cook (South
Africa) needs about $3,000 to complete necessary modifications to a house that will
be used for retreats, seminars, visiting volunteers, etc. This house is on the mission
property and they’ve been renovating it slowly for a number of years as cash come in.
