SWCC World Missions Outreach

Supported Missionaries

Southwest Christian Church works to build and maintain a "missions-conscious" church that is agressive about taking the Good News of Christ to all the world. This congregation takes to heart the words of our Lord, ..."All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the very end of the age." -- Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

The Missionaries that Southwest Christian helps sponsor include:

Dallas Christian College
Organized in 1950 by Vernon Newland, Dallas Christian College is dedicated to Bible based teaching and preparation of young people for full time Christian Service. The mission of DCC is to educate students for Christian leadership in the church, community, and world. Many of the graduates, including our own Dan Villarreal, are currently serving as ministers, missionaries, and in other Christian leadership roles. More than thirty members of Southwest Christian Church have attended DCC over the years. http://www.dallas.edu/

Colegio Biblico
Located on the Mexican border in Eagle Pass, TX since 1945, Colegio Biblico (Spanish for Bible College) is a Spanish-speaking ministry school that prepares workers from Mexico, the rest of Latin America, and the United States for Christian ministry in the Spanish-speaking world. Since 1996, Colegio Biblico has been operating Christian ministry schools on both sides of the border with Mexico, in Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras. The Mexico location allows students who could not get a visa the opportunity to receive the ministry training in their own country. Colegio Biblico teachers perform double duty teaching at both schools - Piedras Negras in the morning and in Eagle Pass in the afternoon. Though being fully utilized, this new campus is still under construction in Piedras Negras, Mexico. They are in the process of constructing a multi-purpose building that will house the new cafeteria and provide sufficient space for chapel and special events. http://www.colegiobiblico.net/

Pioneer Bible Translators
Pioneer Bible Translators bridges the gap between the church and the Bible-less peoples around the world. They serve 9.5 million people in 43 language projects within their current fields. God is calling them to expand and begin 26 additional projects and four new fields! They are seeking 200 new missionaries by 2012 who will step up and meet the need for incarnational ministry among Bible-less peoples. Their team is composed of Bible translators, literacy evangelists, church planters and a variety of support personnel transforming lives through God’s Word in every language. SWCC supports both Brad & Tammy Harvey on the field in Tanzania for PBT and Dave and Alice Parrish at PBT headquarters in Dallas, Texas. http://www.pioneerbible.org/cms/tiki-index.php

Mission To South Africa
With Great Sorrow we must report Stu Cook's Tragic Death
Stuart and Marilyn Cook founded the Aletheia International Ministries more than forty years ago. For many years the work was centered in Johannesburg where they provided church services, counselling, Christian education, cross-cultural orientation and accommodation.

Now based in the Waterberg area, until Stu's tragic death in May of 2010, they provide mentoring and teaching to the only English speaking church in the region, and actively support outreach into the rural Leseding community of 25,000. Stu had continued his writing and held seminars, and preached. Marilyn has been deeply engaged at the Soup Kitchen where up to 900 children are fed both physically and spiritually every week. This provids an opportunity to teach the children, and each week Marilyn shared Bible stories with the children.

Aletheia International Ministries still acts as a network hub (now run by family members) providing assistance and love to under-privileged children in the Alexandra and Soweto urban townships around Johannesburg.

Portugal Christian Mission
Dick and Sarah Robison have been serving the Lord to reach the people on the Iberian Peninsula since 1982. They are engaged in teaching and preaching Christ, and training Portuguese Christians to minister in their own communities. They often encounter local religious leaders that are hostile to their message. They assist in literacy programs and teach English as a second language. Prior to their work in Portugal, Dick and Sarah learned to speak the Portuguese language fluently while they were on the mission field in Brazil.

Mexican Mountain Mission
Mexican Mountain Mission was founded in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, by Ted and Wanda Murray over 40 years ago. They took in, fed and clothed orphans and street children, from the area of San Luis Potosi, deep in the interior of Mexico. Following Ted’s death in 2004, their two adopted sons, John and David, together with their wives, have continued the work of the Mission. They reveal the love of Christ to these little ones, who eventually receive Christ as their Lord and Savior. The Murry's provide the necessities of life for these children, and also see that they have a strong spiritual foundation and an exceptionally high quality education.

Mexico - Clinton & Alicia Looney
Clinton and Alicia Looney are outstanding servants of the Lord and have accomplished many wonderful things for His Kingdom. Clinton not only preaches and teaches in Mexico, but also raises money in the U.S. for his radio programs, for Mexican national evangelists, and many building projects. In 2004 Clinton and Alicia (a registered nurse) completed and opened a medical clinic in Monclova.

Mexico - Feliciano & Petra Moreno
Feliciano and Petra Moreno work mainly in northern Mexico. He preaches and teaches in existing churches and plants new ones. He is also a trusted Biblical counselor. Before beginning his work in Mexico he preached for several years to a small Hispanic church in the south Austin area. During that time he taught and baptized a good number of people. Feliciano baptized and mentored our recently retired, Hispanic Outreach Minister, Dan Villerreal.
